The Weeknd - Starboy (ft. Daft Punk) [Single Premiere]

The King of the Fall, The Weeknd, returns with the announcement of his third studio album ‘Starboy’ and premieres the title track, featuring Daft Punk, serving as the lead single.

After catapulting to international stardom with 2015’s Grammy Award-winning ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’, including global chart toppers ‘The Hills’ and ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, Canadian singer The Weeknd is not slowing down his momentum with the announcement of the follow-up project. The 26-year old’s third studio album is titled ‘Starboy’, scheduled to be released 25th November, and serves up the title track as the lead single.

‘Starboy’ is an ode to his recent rise to fame and extravagance of the celebrity lifestyle, “Pockets overweight, gettin’ hefty, ah / Coming for the king, that’s a far cry, ah / I come alive in the fall time, I / No competition, I don’t really listen” The Weeknd sings brushing off the haters and toasting to his riches.

Featured French electronic duo Daft Punk helm the beat on ‘Starboy’, with co-production from Cirkut and Doc McKinney, who craft an understated and spacey soundscape for Abel to croon over with a prominent 808 loop throughout. Whilst the production retains the melancholy vibe that is consistent throughout The Weeknd’s discography, Daft Punk provide a fresh, intergalactic spin on the track. Listen below:
