Vic Mensa – Liquor Locker (ft. Ty Dolla $ign) [New Track]

Roc Nation rapper Vic Mensa has recently dropped his anticipated debut EP ‘There’s Alot Going On’ featuring the Ty Dolla $ign collaboration ‘Liquor Locker’.

On one of the more lighthearted cuts from his new EP, Vic Mensa raps about the liquor that’s got him talking way too much on ‘Liquor Locker’ with Ty Dolla $ign drinking the Bombay and “boolin’ with a baddie from the Bay Area”, the two spit their rhymes over a guitar-heavy production helmed by Papi Beatz who blends a hazy, rock-influenced vibe with some hip-hop percussion.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Vic Mensa spoke of how the collaboration came about, “Ty Dolla $ign is my homie. I was thinking about doing a song with him. We had been talking about putting something together so I just told Papi Beatz like ‘Let’s make some shit we can put Ty Dolla $ign on.’” he said “Ty is so fresh to me because he’s a phenomenal musician. He plays the bass. Some of the dopest Ty Dolla $ign music I’ve heard is just him over guitars”. Listen to ‘Liquor Locker’ below:

‘There’s Alot Going On’ is the first official EP by American rapper Vic Mensa which was released on June 3rd and serves as the prelude to his debut full-length album due out later this year.

The 23-year old rapper explained the meaning behind the name of the project to Billboard: “The name was inspired from a Guns N’ Roses music video. At the end of “Don’t Cry,” they write “There’s alot going on. P.S. thanx” and it just felt like it encompassed and represented the state of my life and the lives of the people around me. Just with the world we live in today, especially when I was making the music, it seemed like every week, there was just a new groundbreaking event. Read the full interview here.
