Tinashe – Player (ft. Chris Brown)
Tinashe teams up with Chris Brown for the first official single “Player” off her upcoming sophomore album “Joyride”.
After debuting the Young Thug-assisted buzz track “Party Favors”, which was a decidedly subdued urban jam, the urban starlet goes all out pop for the official first single from the new project and spoke of her collaborator to Travis Mills on Beats 1, “I’ve always kinda wanted to do a song with [Chris], obviously, he’s one of the best entertainers of our generation… It’s just exciting to be able to work with him.”
“Player” is actually quite the grower considering the two artists involved. It didn’t instantly wow me but it was inevitable the track was going to win me over eventually with the bouncy LULOU and Alex Purple production (think Kid Ink “Show Me” on steroids) and Tinashe has indeed forayed into far more pop territory and it does fit her sultry vocals showing her versatility. “Player” could be the track to help the singer achieve some much deserved international success.
Tinashe’s sophomore album “Joyride” will also feature contributions from Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Hit-Boy, Travi$ Scott, Nic Nac, and Dev Hynes. “This time around it was fun because it’s not the same pressure as making your first album,” she said of the follow-up to her 2014 debut Aquarius. “I kind of already set the tone, set the stage, so now you can just progress and be a little bit more creative, so that’s what I’m doing this album.” Listen to “Player” below:
