Parker Ighile – Remember Me (ft. Nicki Minaj)
British singer/songwriter and producer Parker Ighile teams up with his label boss Nicki Minaj on the previously teased collaboration ‘Remember Me’.
Parker Ighile has been consistently racking up writing and production credits since 2009 with hits such as Jessie J’s ‘Do It Like A Dude’ and Rihanna’s ‘What Now’ under his belt and, since signing a lucrative deal as the first official artist on Nicki Minaj’s, as of yet, unnamed label, the 26-year old has been patiently working on his debut solo project and preparing to step out from behind the scenes.
Nicki Minaj joins her protégé on the collaboration ‘Remember Me’, their second after ‘Hell Yeah’ from 2012’s ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’. Parker Ighile previously showcased a snippet of the track back in 2013, and this March, Minaj teased her verse on Instagram and now the long-awaited song has finally arrived. The end result is something quite beautiful, a refreshing change of scenery for Minaj and a great introduction for Parker Ighile as an artist.
“How you leave me for a bitch under me? / When the shit hit the fan, don’t run to me” Nicki spits on the unassuming opening of the track against a backdrop of scattering laser synths with Ighile crooning about a recent breakup but its the production on the instrumental chorus that stands out with the rumbling drums and celtic-influenced strings building to a towering, grandiose like soundscape.
