New: Timbaland – Smile (ft. V. Bozeman)

The super producer seems finally ready for his third era of solo music with his new single.

Timbaland has attempted a few times to kick start the release of his third studio album Opera Noir (previously titled Shock Value III) with the releases of the Pitbull-assisted “Pass At Me” in 2011 and “Know Bout Me” featuring Jay-Z, Drake & James Fauntleroy in 2013. Both good, hit-worthy songs in by books (albeit underwhelming compared to his previous efforts) however neither managed to to achieve much success on the charts and progress on releasing the album was stunted.

Timbaland has been busy since, however, now it appears he is readying the release of “Opera Noir”, due later this year via Interscope Records, with the release of “Smile” featuring one of his own signees V Bozeman. “Smile” is an uplifting, soulful little jam featuring beautiful vocals from Bozeman and Timbo’s trademark futuristically-throwback production with harmonious piano chords and spacey synths. The hit-maker also contributes to the singing which, although drenched in auto tune, I’ve always thought has worked and his vocals are always impressively layered adding some flavour to the track.

I need my Timbaland fix so its good to hear he’s working on his first album in nearly six years. He will also return as music producer for the second season of the TV hit “Empire,” and recently announced on instagram “People ask me all the time do I have any babegirl music we haven’t heard, well the answer is YES!!!!!!!! TIMBO x BABEGIRL !!!!! Sneak peak coming !!!!!!!” in regards to Aaliyah so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime listen to “Smile” below:
