New: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Downtown [Video]

Macklemore Downtown Video

The Seattle duo have officially returned with their brand new first single from their upcoming album along with an accompanying visual.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis provided a taste of their new music with the Ed Sheeran- assisted buzz single Sloane’s Song earlier this month which was a touching affair, but obviously that wasn’t going to be the first single, now they are officially back with a suitably crossover hip-pop record hoping to obliterate the charts again.

“Downtown” has Macklemore & Ryan Lewis written all over it and is an amalgamation of the singles from their debut with a low-key throwback ’80s hip-hop style on the verses (Kool Moe Dee, Melle Mel and Grandmaster Caz get feature credits) before exploding into an anthemic pop chorus. The song brings vibes of “Uptown Funk” and Black Eyed Peas’ recent single “Yesterday” and theres cowbells and bass aplenty, its not as easily accessible as their previous efforts due to its hectic arrangement but is sure to be a grower.

The accompanying clip is directed by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Jason Koenig and is just as outrageous as the song is. The cinematic visual finds the pair journeying through their hometown of Seattle with moose headed-motorcyclist gang wars, eagle chariots, some choreography and just about everyone from the city parades down the streets in the climax.
