New: Lana Del Rey – Honeymoon
The self-proclaimed “Gangsta Nancy Sinatra” debuts the title track from her third major-label LP.
Lana Del Rey’s music has never been instantly accessible, even more so for “Honeymoon” the first release off her upcoming album of the same name. It took a few spins, but I’ve become totally encapsulated by the progressively sinister strings and mesmerising layered vocals that feels comfortably familiar yet elevates the song to a more grandiose style than her previous works.
The track is most definitely a slow burner at nearly 6 minutes long and doesn’t particularly tread new territory with the writing with lyrics such as “We both know the history of violence that surrounds you, but I’m not scared, there’s nothing to lose now that I found you,” but once fully embraced the song takes you on a cinematic journey.
I am eagerly anticipating how “Honeymoon” the album will turn out, as previously announced by herself “[The new album is] very different from the last one and similar to the first two, Born to Die and Paradise,” so fingers crossed there will be a few hip-hop tinged on the new LP ala “Blue Jeans” & “National Anthem”. Oh fuck it, anything she releases I’ll eventually love! Listen to the epic track below:
