One of the most underrated producers in the game, Danja, unleashes a 7-track instrumental EP “Premonitions” showcasing his amazing talents.

Floyd Nathaniel “Danjahandz” Hills is renowned for his work during the period of being Timbaland’s protégé on mega successful, career changing projects such as Justin Timberlake’s “Futuresex/Lovesounds” and Nelly Furtado’s “Loose”, before branching off and producing for other artist’s on his own, most notably the pop gem that was Britney Spears’ “Blackout” which, due to his production, made that my favourite album of hers.

Danja’s discography is more quality over quantity and its a rarity to find his production on an album which is frustrating in this age of repetitive, albeit catchy, beats plaguing commercial music. This makes him one of the most underrated and under-utilised music producers in the industry which is a sin considering the intricacy of his work that is unparalleled in the realm of R&B, Pop & Hip-Hop.

“Premonitions” perfectly showcases Danja’s talents of crafting dark, ominous instrumentals with a plethora of layers to digest that take you on a journey on their own rather than make you think “this artist would sound good on here”. I’ve always thought his more adventurous creations would fit well on an RPG video game or some crazy techno Anime.

Standouts include the openers “FEAR” and “DARTH DANJA” which are as sinister as the titles suggest, rattling drums and video game-esque synths and blips infect the instrumentals with malevolent strings and choirs adding to the carnage. “FATHER” is another bustling arrangement with some sizzling percussion and an epic intro, “SPAZGASM” is a fitting title for the fourth track which has a crazy, club-ready atmosphere with sirens and deranged synths lacing the instrumental, it has notable similarities to Britney Spears’ “Blackout” bonus track “Get Back”. The EP ends on my favourite “HUE OF BLUE” which has a more breezy and ethereal approach, the euphoric instrumental takes you on a journey and the interesting oriental vocal sample completes the sparkling arrangement, a poignant flute breakdown also closes the track.

“Danja is undoubtedly one of the most exciting producers to emerge in the last decade. With his chart topping hits and downright love for music, Danja releases his first instrumental EP entitled “Premonitions”. Premonitions is more than just an album of instrumentals, it’s an experience translated through Danja’s genius, creativity and vision. Danja and his team had an amazing journey putting together this project and we hope you guys enjoy it as much as we do.”
